Grace Jones Calls Out Copycats and Trends
Grace Jones is coming for her rightfully owned throne in her upcoming memoir, ironically or cleverly entitled, “I’ll Never Write My Memoirs.”
Daring, edgy, outspoken and fearless describes the body and work of Grace Jones. And in her book, she’s holding nothing back — even calling out a few pop and R&B faves in the process.
In an excerpt on ETOnline, Lady Jones calls out BadGalRiRi, Queen Bey, Rita Ora, Madonna and more when covering the topic of copycats and trends.
“Trends come along and people say, ‘Follow that trend’. There’s a lot of that around at the moment: ‘Be like Sasha Fierce. Be like Miley Cyrus. Be like Rihanna. Be like Lady Gaga. Be like Rita Ora and Sia. Be like Madonna.’ I cannot be like them – except to the extent that they are already being like me,” Jones writes.
In Jones’ world, she is the originator and became so not for the dollar or unmatched fame, but for the “excitement” and “dare.”
Whoop! She’s coming and I doubt anyone will have anything to say about it.
The autobiography, published by Simon and Schuster is available on Sept. 24. Pre-order is available, here.
