Good Look: Brothers Landing TV Roles
Women of color have been making their presence well-known across television series, as of late. (We can thank Shondaland for its part in making that happen!)
And now, we take a moment to acknowledge a few good men that have landed roles on the TV screen.
First up, comedian and Saturday Night Live alum, Finesse Mitchell can be seen in a recurring role on HBO’s new comedy pilot, Brothers in Atlanta. Jaden Smith also snagged a role in the series alongside Maya Rudolph.
Written by and starring Diallo Riddle and Bashir Salahuddin, the plot involves two best friends who are struggling entertainers in Atlanta. Finesse Mitchell will play the role of “Walter”, a back-up singer to Maya Rudolph’s character.
The brother Derek Luke also has two gigs coming up. He landed a role in DirectTV’s suspense drama, Rogue, opposite Thandie Newton and Cole Hauser. Beginning his role as the show heads into its third season, Luke will play Marlon Dinard, the leader of a street gang called the 13th Street Kings.
That second gig I mentioned, will be a 5-episode arc in the new hit series Empire on Fox.
