Frozen 2 is already in production, so we hope you’re not bothered by the cold, or it’s forthcoming soundtrack which will probably stay on repeat. The follow-up to the 2013’s Frozen which grossed over $1.2 billion dollars worldwide is finally getting the sequel that everyone has been waiting for, and it appears that Disney animators are already hard at work on the new film. Entertainment Weekly spoke with the film’s producer Peter Del Vecho who said that this new film will shine a light on some of the things that went down during the original. He said, “Now that we’ve been involved in it for awhile, what’s exciting is it feels like it builds on the first movie. You understand things better in the first movie after you’ve seen the sequel.”
Obviously, the plot of the sequel is super top secret at the moment. However, Del Vecho did confirm that Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell are returning to this new film as Elsa and Anna. Josh Gad who starred in the original film as the whimsical snowman Olaf, and who is currently killing the game as LeFou in the live-action Beauty and the Beast will also be reprising his role in Frozen 2.
Unfortunately, you don’t need to rush to put on your Uggs just yet; the chilly sequel is not set to hit theaters until at least 2019. However, Anna and Elsa fans need not despair. Disneyland has just premiered their theatrical interpretation of Disney’s animated film, Frozen – Live at the Hyperion. So if you’re out in California, you can stop and get a taste of Arendelle.
