Erykah Badu Returns to Soul Train Awards!

Erykah Badu aka Fatbelly Bella did her thing as the host of the Soul Train Music Awards, last year. And now, the green juice sippin’, slick talkin’, eccentric artist will be hitting center stage again to emcee the ceremony.

Here’s a brief flashback to her 2015 hosting duties:

The annual celebration honors and acknowledges the best in soulful music from those who’ve made legendary status to the next generation of talent etching their name and making an impact in the genre.

As for the nominations?  There are 12 categories, in which Drake leads the pack with 12 noms including  one from his work with rumored beau, Rihanna, for their collaboration on “Work” and another from his trendy tune “Hotline Bling”.  Beyoncé follows with 8 nods including: Best R&B/Soul Female Artist, Album/Mixtape of the Year for her stand-out album Lemonade, and multiple honors for lead single “Formation.”   Usher, DJ Khaled, Kanye West, and Rihanna are also in the nomination mix competing for Video of the Year, Album/Mixtape of the Year and Best Collaboration.

Representing for the next generation is Chance The Rapper, Bryson Tiller and Anderson .Paak who all boast nominations in various categories.

Brandy, aka the “vocal bible”,  will  receive the second annual Lady of Soul Award. A few  cool facts about the singer-songwriter: B.Rocka has sold  over 40 million records, and has a Grammy, American Music Award and seven Billboard Music Awards under her belt.

Another artist that has contributed greatly to the music industry and even shaped an era with his “New Jack Swing”style is Teddy Riley.  The entertainer and producer will be recognized for his influence in R&B music.

Yep, it’s shaping up to sound like a musically-festive evening and we will surely be tuned in.

Soul Train Awards 2016 will air on CENTRIC and BET on Nov. 27, at 8pm ET.
