Erotica Author Zane Files for Bankruptcy

Looks like erotica author Zane, has joined the unfortunate list of celebrities on Uncle Sam’s undesirable back taxes list.

The Maryland-based best-selling author, birth name Kristina Laferne Roberts, has recently filed for bankruptcy in U.S. Bankruptcy Court, reports the Washington Post.

Having penned more than 30 novels–with one of her most popular, Addicted, gaining a film adaptation–it is stated that Roberts owes the IRS more than $540,000. In addition to the filing, Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot previously called Roberts a “tax cheat” and said the state has been working to collect back taxes from the writer since 2003.

Zane, who is the founder of Strebor Books in addition to being the creator and producer of two television series, Zane’s Sex Chronicles and Zane’s The Jump Off, claimed her income to be a monthly $4,700.

Perception is a beast. It baffles me how these entertainers feel they are invincible when it comes to reality. Lights, cameras and action are fantasy. When the lights dim and the production set is closed, you are human and have societal and legal responsibilities. It all catches up with you.

Hopefully, she finds revival. Toni Braxton did.

Addicted is slated to hit theaters, Friday, October 10th and stars Boris Kodjoe, Tyson Beckford and Sharon Leal.
