We’re still trying to recover from Season One of the epic Hulu series The Handmaid’s Tale, but apparently, some major things are in the works for Season Two.
Based on the 1985 dystopian novel by Canadian author Margaret Atwood, The Handmaid’s Tale is set in the Republic of Gilead, which was once New England in the United States. As a result of widespread infertility, Gilead is ruled by a fundamentalist regime that has forced the few remaining fertile women, called Handmaids, into sexual servitude. Offred (Elizabeth Moss) stands at the center of the story as a woman determined to survive her plight and reunite with the daughter who was stolen from her.
Now that Season One has wrapped, we’re getting new deets surrounding the upcoming season, and it looks like Drake might be making an appearance. In an interview with the Boston Review, Atwood said of Drake, “Wouldn’t it be fun for him to have a cameo in Season Two of The Handmaid’s Tale? I’ll drop that notion into the ear of Bruce Miller, the showrunner, and see what he can do with that because of course the show is filmed in Toronto. Maybe Drake could help smuggle someone?”
We have no idea of the Canadian rapper would be up for a cameo in such an explosive series, but we’d definitely welcome it, especially if he were one of the good guys. There is no set release date for Season Two of The Handmaid’s Tale yet, but we can expect that it will premiere sometime in 2018. Until then, we’ll spend our time recovering from the first season’s shocking finale.
