Dr. Dre Handcuffed Near Malibu Home
Since the release of 2015’s ‘Straight Outta Compton’ and the accolades and controversy that followed, Dr. Dre has been pretty quiet when it comes to media headlines.
However, Monday the music producer and entrepreneur found himself in handcuffs outside of his Malibu, California home.
Around 11:15 a.m. deputies responded to allegations that a man was pointing a gun at another guy. According to NBC Los Angeles, a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department stated that deputies made contact with a man who named Dr. Dre as the man who was pointing a gun at him while he was stopped in his car on Pacific Coast Highway.
Following the allegations, deputies went to Dre’s house, where they handcuffed, searched, and briefly detained him in a patrol car to further investigate the situation.
Fortunately, a weapon was not found in Dr. Dre’s home and he was released.
According to the music mogul, the accuser was in front of his home, blocking the driveway when Dr. Dre asked him to leave. He told officers that the man drove away but returned shortly after and parked near the same location. At that point, Dre pulled out his cell phone to record the happenings and the man drove away. Rolling Stone reports the motorist mistook the superproducer’s phone for a weapon, quipping it was “another Black guy with a gun.”
There was no arrest, however, Dr. Dre did receive a citation.
