Is Pastor Donnie McClurkin Engaged?

Gospel powerhouse and pastor Donnie McClurkin is used to singing about God’s goodness, now, he may have even more reason to celebrate.

During a recent appearance on TBN’s Praise the Lord with fellow pastor A.R. Bernard, the group let it slip that the “We Fall Down” singer might be jumping the broom in the near future.

While discussing his book, What Women Want From Men, Bernard said he will be giving McClurkin and his boo (apparently singer Nicole C. Mullen), premarital counseling. Instead of ignoring the off-the-cuff remark, McClurkin said he was looking to get hitched.

The 56-year-old pastor explained why he wants a wife.

“Honestly, the only thing in my life that is missing is marriage,” McClurkin told the audience. “The only thing that is missing in my life that can cause real family, is marriage. Financially, I’m there. Spiritually, I’m almost there. Emotionally, I’m getting it together. But the only thing that’s missing out of everything that I’m doing locally, cross country and globally is that aspect that makes family, family — is that wife that would make man whole, that element that brings favor to man.”

McClurkin said he and Mullen have known each other for more than 15 years, but only decided to date after sitting next to each other on a flight to the Ivory Coast in December 2015. The pair spoke for hours, and McClurkin realized he needed a “help mate.”

“I have a lot of great things, but I don’t have a good thing,” McClurkin said, referencing the scripture about a man finding a “good thing” when he finds a wife. “To have someone that I can love. I’m not saying to love me, ’cause there’s a lot of people that love me. I want someone that I can love, heal and comfort, protect and secure. That’s what I want.”

Mullen, who was previously married to singer-songwriter David Mullen, got divorced in 2014. McClurkin, a single dad, has never been married, but has spoken about being “delivered” from “the curse” of homosexuality.

While it sounds like McClurkin might just be engaged to Mullen, others have called the reports nothing more than rumors. Mary Mary’s Erica Campbell called the talk of McClurkin’s engagement completely false.

“I hate misleading bloggers who take pieces of truth and twist it so they can get more views on their site. has done this to me quite a few times so I’m not surprised but I am very disappointed in this,” Campbell said on Instagram. “Yes Pastor Donnie is in a relationship but he hasn’t made any announcement. No one should steal the joy of making a wonderful announcement like this.”
