Donald Glover Added to ‘Spiderman’ Cast

Fresh off the release of the trailer for his upcoming FX series Atlanta, Donald Glover has signed on to be in Marvel’s Spiderman: Homecoming, Deadline reports

The film, which also stars Disney breakout turned EBONY covergirl Zendaya Coleman, is due to hit theaters in July 2017. It is also a reboot of the famous Marvel franchise and will follow Peter Parker as he navigates high school and fights crime.

While it’s unclear what role Glover will play, the announcement comes in a long line of diverse casting announcements for upcoming Marvel projects. From the upcoming Black Panther film to the recent Captain America juggernaut, Marvel’s universe has become increasingly inclusive, and adding Glover means it’ll stay that way.

Glover made a name for himself as a writer on 30 Rock, and later as a star of Community. The writer and actor is also a rapper who performs under the name Childish Gambino.

Glover’s been successfully able to navigate almost every medium, from television and film, and the radio. But starring in a blockbuster superhero film will no doubt take his career even higher.
