Donald Glover Just Snagged Another Marvel Job

Donald Glover and Marvel just started a beautiful friendship.

The Atlanta star has his hands in so many projects including Spider-Man: Homecoming, Star Wars and the live-action version of The Lion King that it’s hard to keep up. Apparently, the 33-year old has no plans on slowing down anytime soon. Recently FX announced that they had teamed up with Glover to bring everyone’s favorite potty mouth mercenary Deadpool to the small screen.

Though Ryan Reynolds has the live-action version of Wade Wilson on lock, Glover is set to bring the animated series to life in 2018 on FX’s subsidiary network, FXX. Glover along with his younger brother Stephen Glover (who is also a writer on the critically acclaimed Atlanta) will serve as showrunners, executive producers, and writers of the series. Seriously these guys are prolific AF.

The animated Deadpool will be FX’s second Marvel series with their successful and acclaimed Legion (which is an X-Men story as well premiering earlier this year.) Ironically, Glover’s Atlanta co-star Zazie Beetz was just cast in Deadpool 2. FX’s President of Original Programming Nick Grad said of the news,

“Donald Glover is an incredibly gifted and versatile artist who’ll bring the ‘untitled Marvel’s Deadpool’ series to life with the same intense, singular vision as his breakout hit Atlanta. With the success of ‘Legion,’ we’re looking forward to again partnering with Marvel Television to create a series that is bold, striking and entirely original.”

Marvel’s Jeph Loeb who will also serve as an executive producer on the series was enthusiastic in saying,

“How much more fun could this be? Deadpool, Donald, and FX – the perfect fit for the Merc with the Mouth! We’re thrilled that our relationship with FX that started with ‘Legion’ continues with what is sure to be a groundbreaking show in adult animation.”

Seriously, Donald Glover is giving us the blueprint for living your most epic life right now. Though we’re not sure when we’ll see Atlanta return, you can catch Glover as Jon Watts in this summer’s Spider-Man: Homecoming.
