Dee-1, Lupe Fiasco, Big KRIT ‘Against Us’ Remix

This track is sure to wake you up in more ways than one.

New Orleans rapper Dee-1 connected with the musically complex Lupe Fiasco and soul flowing emcee Big K.R.I.T to deliver the remix to his song, “Against Us.”

Shot in NOLA, the visual gives a juxtaposed energy with colorful graffiti decorating the sides of buildings in a gritty space. The lyrical squad matches that energy with fast-flowing bars and intricate content acknowledging human faults and indulgences, but also the intent of bettering self.

“You got money in the bank/but you’re morally bankrupt,” Dee-1 raps as Big K.R.I.T encourages people to “embrace the struggle and build from rubble.”

Lupe caps the third verse with dreams of delivering the next generation from a stream of antagonistic nightmares.

“Nightmares where I came from and my dream is to bring them where there ain’t none.”

With Dee-1 proclaiming his Christianity, he uses the Lord’s Prayer to segue into the song’s chorus.

Another highlight is the words of wisdom coming from his 86-year-old grandfather: “I know good hip-hop when it hits. And you know what I represent: Be real, be righteous, and be relevant.”
