D Rose reveals Adidas apparel line

It’s got a rose on the tongue, adidas stripes on the sole etching up the heel, and a black exterior with a spray of cherry color on the midsole.
And as Chicagoans will affectionately note, it reps for its namesake’s neighborhood in the inside heel.
“It” is d3 and the adidas gym shoe in honor of, and partially designed by, Derrick Rose made its debut in a swanky lofted space on the city’s near South Side, attended by a throng of press, the softspoken MVP and several members of his family, including his mother and three older brothers.
With the lovingness of a new dad, Rose explained all the highly personal touches on the shoe from the petaled logo (which represent his supportive siblings) to the insignia in the heel.
But what could have been a simple promotional event turned into something much more . At one point, Rose– who has been in Los Angeles rehabbing– welled up as video of his season-ending injury (in April) aired on a flat screen above him. He revealed he was overcome by the well wishes of fans who have had his back as he recovered (and continues to) mend.
Rose quietly assured the crowd he’s steadily getting back up to speed, having worked on strengthening his core in daily rehab and getting to the point where– days ago– he was able to jump on the knee again.
“It’s truly a blessing,” the softspoken athlete said haltingly, as he dabbed at his eyes. “With all the stuff going on in this city, that a kid from Englewood has got something positive going on, it makes me feel so good. We went through so much and to have true fans means a lot to me. It means a lot to my family. We ain’t supposed to be here at all, but God made a way.”
The star athlete teamed up with Adidas to create the D Rose 3 Signature Collection; it features the Rose 3.0 shoe. Many gathered at the Chicago Illuminating Company on Sept. 13, 2012 to find out more about the line.
