Cynthia Bailey Dishes on RHOA

Real Housewives of Atlanta (RHOA) stars are known for throwing shade, not blows. But that all changed this season. JET magazine caught up with RHOA’s Cynthia Bailey to get the scoop on the show’s most explosive episode.

JET: One of the show’s most recent episodes featured a drag down brawl. What was it like watching that?

Cynthia Bailey: When the fight actually happened, we were all really surprised. When everyone started initially fighting with their words and throwing lots of shade, I sort of knew that it would escalate and I know that the people who watch our show don’t want to see us fighting, especially when mates and husbands get physical.

JET: Who do you blame for the fight (between Phaedra Parks’ husband, Apollo Nida, and Kenya Moore’s assistant Brandon DeShazer)?

CB: I say when Kenya actually got up. I don’t want to put the blame on her, but her emotion just caused a domino effect. You know we are all grown and personally, I always try to be rational and conduct myself with class, but sometimes my crew is a little messy sometimes  — and I can’t not throw a rock in there sometimes.

JET: How are things with you and Kenya now?

CB: Kenya and I are cool. I have come to the conclusion that people feel like NeNe started it. She never told anyone to get up and fight, but she definitely stirred the pot a little bit.

JET: Speaking of Kenya, have you ever met her mysterious African prince?

CB: I have never actually met her African Prince. No, I have never met her man before. I have heard about him and I look forward to meeting him one day.

JET: Another thing folks have been jabbering about is Apollo’s legal woes around allegations of fraud. A few sites have even indicated that your husband Peter was involved as well. What are your thoughts?

CB: I can’t speak on Apollo, but I can say that Peter Thomas doesn’t have anything to do with a bank fraud scandal to my knowledge. The feds are not sitting outside of our house. That is just not accurate information, and this is the first time that I have heard rumors that Peter is involved in any way.

JET: Let’s move to your other loved one, your sister Malorie. How is your relationship with her?

CB: I am now in a much better place and I am glad that she came back to hang out with me … until she went back and told Peter some stuff that I told her. I feel like I should be able to talk to my husband about certain things and my girls about certain things, without them going back and telling any of that information. But Mal is my only sister and we are very close. I need my sister in my life. I don’t need her to stay with us for two months at a time, but I do need to see my girl.

JET: This season we saw you host a trunk show at The Bailey Agency. What’s next for you business-wise?

CB: My pageants have been incredibly successful and I’m really happy about that because I really only started doing them as another outlet to be able to take girls and inspire them.  The next one will be this summer. You can get more information from The Bailey Agency.
