UPDATE: Chris Rock Confirmed To Host Oscars
UPDATE: It’s official! Chris Rock will be hosting this year’s Oscars. The ceremony’s producers, David Hill and Reginald Hudlin, confirmed the news Wednesday.
“Chris Rock is truly the MVP of the entertainment industry,” said Hill and Hudlin. “Comedian, actor, writer, producer, director, documentarian – he’s done it all. He’s going to be a phenomenal Oscar host!”
The Top Five actor is thrilled to return to the stage.
“I’m so glad to be hosting the Oscars,” said Rock. “It’s great to be back.”
Chris Rock may dive into the acting world. But his true space is on the stage delivering pun-fueled jokes and pointing out the happenings in society. His comedy is edgy, timely, and funny.
For that, talk is circulating the Interwebs putting Rock as host of the 2016 Oscar Awards. The gig isn’t all new to the writer/director. In 2005, he took the big stage as host of the 77th Oscar Award show, which went over pretty well.
Another plus in this situation is Chris Rock’s relationship with Oscar producers Reginald Hudlin and David Hill. The funnyman and Hudlin worked together on the hit sitcom, Everybody Hates Chris.
Variety reports that confirmation should be announced soon.
The 2016 Oscars will be held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on Feb. 28, 2016.
