James McNair Children Get $10M from Walmart
Children of James Mcnair, a comedian killed during the New Jersey Turnpike crash that injured Tracey Morgan, will be receiving $10 million from Walmart.
Back in June, a Walmart truck hit the limousine that Morgan, McNair and others had been in on their way back from a show in Delaware. There were documents filed from Surrogate’s Court, in Westchester County with a $10 million figure disclosed. The papers show that Jamel McNair, 26, and Denita McNair, 19 are putting the majority of the payments towards annuities that will pay them increasingly amounts for the rest of their lives.
Morgan, who is known from “Saturday Night Live” and “30 rock” suffered many injured like broken bones, and brain trauma. The comedian as well as the others in the car all sued Walmart. Truck driver, Kevin Roper has been charged with death by auto as well as other offenses.
A Walmart spokesman, Randy Hargrove, reported to The New York Times, that they are indeed sorry for the loss of McNair.
“We deeply regret the loss of Mr. McNair,” said Hargrove. “And we worked closely with his family to insure their well-being.”
It is never a happy moment to see children lose a father figure. Prayers go out to the McNair family.
