Chicago House DJ Rashad Dies at 34
Rashad Harden, better known as DJ Rashad, passed away Sunday at the age of 34.
A popular Chicago house music DJ, Rashad’s body was discovered in his apartment by a friend. An autopsy was performed the same day but according to the Associated Press, it’s believed the disc jockey died of a drug overdose although a toxicology report was not immediately available. Narcotics and drug paraphernalia were found near his body.
Before his untimely passing, Rashad was scheduled to play clubs on an international tour. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, his latest single “We On 1” would have dropped Monday. Rashad is also consider to be a pioneer of footwork, an electronic-type of music that mixes rap, R&B and pop.
“He shared his music with everyone that would listen,” Harden’s father, Anthony Harden, told the Sun-Times. “He’s been all over the world, taking footwork all over the world.”
