Cheryl Boone Isaacs Re-elected
Cheryl Boone Isaacs is a fine example of why Black girls rock. She’s just been re-elected as the president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
This is the third term for the 66-year-old, who ran unopposed this year. Presidents of the organization are able to serve four one-year terms before they are no longer eligible.
Isaacs’ position at the top spot has been quite historic. Not only is she the first African-American to become president of the organization, but she’s also been able to set some huge projects in motion.
Earlier this summer, the $300 million Academy Museum of Motion Pictures was approved by the Los Angeles City Council, which means construction can begin this fall.
Additionally, she and her team tapped 322 members for an exclusive club that oversees the Oscars each year. That’s what we call boss!
Congrats, Ms. Boone Isaacs!
