Music icon Chaka Khan is celebrating both her upcoming 60th birthday (March 23) and the 40th anniversary of her entertainment career with a special “Stars Tribute” issue of Billboard magazine on stands now.
According to the Huffington Post, this issue will make history as the magazine’s first-ever “Augmented Reality” cover in which readers will be able to access special features by scanning the cover with the Printergize mobile app. The app will then connect with the singer’s official website where she will introduce her “100 Days of Chaka” campaign.
“Chaka has always been an innovator as an artist,” Tammy McCrary of Chaka Khan Management said in a press release. “In today’s market, it is just as important to be innovative technologically.”
The “100 Days of Chaka” marks the 100 days from her birthday on March 23rd to the anniversary of the release of her first recording album Rufus on July 1.
The campaign will wrap up with the release of a July 2 CD/DVD album – The iKhan Project: Alive! The Commemorative Edition – and events in New York, Los Angeles, and Miami hosted by Chaka herself.
“I want to experience the magic I felt 40 years ago when I recorded my first record,” she said in a statement. “I’m excited and looking forward to celebrating my 60th birthday in all the cities I love.”
