Cardi B. Moving on From Love & Hip Hop New York

If Mona Scott Young’s Love and Hip Hop franchise wasn’t the beginning of Cardi B.’s rap dreams, it sure gave her presence a boost in the industry and provided the 24 year old a space to get her music heard.

Outspoken and seemingly fearless when it comes to what she wants, Cardi instantly became a must-watch factor in the reality series, however, she announced via social media that she’s made the decision to leave the show to focus on other passion projects such as dropping her debut album.

“I don’t want people to think I became a rapper because I was on Love and Hip Hop,” the Bronx-native said. “If you want people to take you seriously, you gotta do the best. For example, my eyeshadow line. I been planning, been talking about it for a year, and it still hasn’t released yet because it’s not the way I want it to be. It has to be extremely perfect. Only great things sell.”

During her Instagram Live announcement, she made sure to note that there wasn’t any bad blood or adversity between she and Mona Scott. In June, Cardi hinted toward her exiting the show in an interview with Hot 97. Cardi is planning for a big 2017 with a role in BET’s Being Mary Jane starring Gabrielle Union and more music in line.
