Comedian and actor Brandon T. Jackson has scored the role of Aaron Foley, the son of Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy), in the new Beverly Hills Cop television series on CBS, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The show will center around Aaron, a (you guessed it!) Beverly Hills cop who struggles to escape the shadows of his father Axel–the character Murphy made famous in the Beverly Hills Cop movie trilogy from the 80s and early 90s.

Jackson, who is also a successful stand-up comic, is best known for his roles in the comedic films Tropic Thunder and Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son. Murphy will reprise his Axel character in the pilot with the possibility of recurring if the show gets green-lit.

Murphy was most recently honored for his professional achievements during a star-studded special on Spike TV titled “Eddie Murphy: One Night Only.”
