Ashanti Lands Role in Lifetime’s ‘Army Wives’

Ashanti’s music career is stagnant at the moment, but at least she has her acting career to fall back on. The singer /songwriter will get the opportunity to show off her acting chops on television soon because she has landed a new gig on the Lifetime drama Army Wives, which has been renewed for a seventh 13-episode season next year. The series premiered in 2007 and follows the lives of one man, four woman, and their families, who each have a loved one in the army.

Ashanti’s role on the show–which will be regular–is that of Latasha Durant, who is described as a sexy, fun mother of three who knows how to keep her family and her husband in check. Ashanti has had previous guest roles on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and American Dreams.
