Aretha Franklin Helps Flint Residents
The Queen of Soul is providing nightly rooms for 25-50 residents at a Holiday Inn in the Southfield neighborhood. She’s also supplying food and beverage by way of a nearby Coney Island.
For a chance to be selected, people will go through a screening at New Bethel Baptist, the star’s father’s church.
“Detroiters usually come to the aid of Detroiters — and Flint is certainly regarded as Detroit,” Franklin said to Local 4 News. “Hang in there.”
