‘Black Dynamite’ Plans Police Brutality Episode

Police brutality is the talk on everyone’s tongue and the conversation is about to get an animated perspective with the upcoming “The Wizard of Watts” episode of Black Dynamite in the new year.

In a press release, the creators of the series starring Michael Jai White, states that the episode will follow Black Dynamite as he attempts to take a vacation. The police start patrolling the streets and, as we’re currently seeing, riots and protests break out. A hit in the head puts Black Dynamite in a hallucinated state where he travels to the “Magical Land of Oz-Watts” and is dependent upon to defend the community against police.

“The Wizard of Watts” is planned for an hour-long run as opposed to the shows usual 30-minute running time of the Adult Swim cartoon. Guest appearances include Tyler The Creator, Erykah Badu, J.B Smoove, and Tim Blake Nelson.

Carl Jones, who serves as Exective Producer/Writer and Director  of the series, expressed that as a comedy writer, his job is to make people laugh while also addressing social criticisms with hopes that evokes constructive thought and dialogue.

The episode is slated to air January 10, 2015 at 10:30 p.m. ET.
