A life-size, bronze statue of late singer Amy Winehouse will be erected in the London borough of Camden, according to the Camden New Journal. The Camden Council approved the plans to install the statue even amid objections that the timing of the tribute was “so soon after her death.”
The figure, which dons Winehouse’s famous beehive hairdo, will be installed at Camden’s Roundhouse this September.
“Amy was in love with Camden, and it is the place her fans from all over the world associate her with,” he said. “The family have always been keen to have a memorial for her in the place she loved the most, which will provide fans a place to visit and bring extra custom to local businesses.”
