5 Worst Singer Performance Fails
If we’ve learned one thing from the 2013 MTV VMAs it’s that Miley Cyrus is a terrible performer. The musical progeny may come from a talented gene pool but clearly those things sometimes skip a generation. That’s not to say that Miley can’t actually sing, but her stage presence as evident by last weekend’s performance leaves room for ample improvement. But the twerking addict is not alone. Here are several other musicians who dropped the ball when the stage lights where turned on.
In this classic clip, pop super group Destiny’s Child hit BET’s 106 & Park stage to perform their chart-topping single. But moments after the beat drop and the trio came sauntering out, Ms. Williams dropped to the floor in an epic stage dive.
One of the biggest and tragically funny moments from the 2013 Billboard Awards came courtesy of Miguel. The R&B singer was rocking the crowd until he made the error of judgment to attempt to leap over a sea of people onto a smaller section of the stage. Instead of scoring a perfect landing, he wound up with an instantly viral meme based on the pair of fans he cleared out with his dropkick move.
It was supposed to be a 90’s R&B revival but it turned into a massacre. During “The Show” at London’s Wembley Arena, the members of Jodeci joined a lineup of old school groups. But when K-Ci, Jojo and Mr. Dalvin put on their set, fans greeted them with boos. Not just because the band was late, but because of their off-key renditions, which culminated with one of the members jumping off stage to interact with the crowd only to not have the hops to get himself back on stage. SMH.
As part of new super group Tank, Ginuwine and Tyrese, collectively known as TGT, were on the promo run for their debut album when this questionable performance took place. While appearing on Long Island, NY local station CBS-WLNY morning show “The Couch,” Ginuwine displayed erratic behavior—including incessant blinking and sweating profusely—and forgot the lyrics to his own song. Band mates Tyrese and Tank had to play fill in and refute claims that the Pony man was riding a different kind of horse.
While making a live appearance on SNL, Jessica Simpson’s baby sister was exposed for having her own Milli Vanilli moment. Just as the “singer” was about to start her performance the audio for her track started and revealed she was planning on lip-syncing. Embarrassed by the reveal, Ashlee did an even more embarrassing “dance” before just walking off the set leaving the producers with no choice but to go to commercial while her band played on without her.
