Christened as the “biggest night in gospel music,” the 2016 Stellar Music Awards nominees have been announced by Central City Productions with vocal heavyweight Anthony Brown receiving ten nods.
In addition, Brown and his band, Group therAPy are contenders for Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Group/Duo of the Year, CD of the Year, Choir of the Year, Contemporary Group/Duo of the Year, Contemporary CD of the Year, and Recorded Music Packaging of the Year.
Taken place at the Las Vegas Oregon Arena on Saturday, February 20, other nominees spread across 28 categories include Charles Jenkins & Fellowship Chicago, who received eight nominations and Erica Campbell steps in third with six nominations.
Millennial artist Jonathan McReynolds joins the legendary Dorinda Clark, Israel & New Breed, Tina Campbell and more with multiple nominations.
TV personalities, Rickey Smiley and Sherri Shepherd join forces for the second time to co-host the celebratory event, which will be sure to entertain with performances from Kirk Franklin and Tasha Cobbs, to name a few.
Yolanda Adams and faith-based comedian Jonathan Slocumb will receive special honors and O’landa Draper will be honored with the James Cleveland Lifetime Achievement Award and the Ambassador Bobby Jones Legends Award
TV personality and radio host, Rickey Smiley will join forces with actress and TV personality, Sherri Shepherd for the second time to host the celebratory event.
The Stellar Awards show taping is open to the public, with ticket prices ranging from $50 – $200 at www.orleansarena.com. You can also catch the broadcast during the week of March 6 when it airs on TV One.
