2 Chainz to Launch HBCU Tour
2 Chainz is hitting the road this fall, but not for a traditional tour. Instead, the rapper is partnering with HBCU Direct, former NBA star Tracy McGrady and Magic Johnson’s Aspire TV for an HBCU tour.
The tour will visit 20 campuses that will include performances from members of the rapper’s label and will host basketball games.
Aimed to build awareness about the historic institutions and increase overall enrollment, the new venture will kick off this September and reach 100,000 students.
“HBCUs are a cornerstone of our community, having graduated some of the most notable African Americans across the spectrum…,” said McGrady. “With more African Americans entering college today than ever before, it is imperative that we do all we can to support HBCUs as they continue to provide a high-quality education.”
Rod Chappell, CEO and executive director of HBCU Direct added, “This partnership perfectly aligns with our mission of servicing and creating positive awareness of HBCUs.”
Stay tuned for dates, so you can catch the tour when it stops at your campus.
