In a role that originated with Billy Dee Williams in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, 33-year old Donald Glover will be taking over as the bad boy on the rise in the galaxy’s underworld. The currently untitled young Hans Solo film which is being helmed by director Ron Howard will hit theaters on May 25, 2018.
Howard took over the project last month after things became unhinged onset when co-directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller were fired.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, “there were ‘deep fundamental philosophical differences’ in filmmaking styles and the directors felt they were being given ‘zero creative freedom.’ They also felt they were being asked to operate under ‘extreme scheduling constraints’ and ‘were never given enough days for each scene from the very beginning.'”
Whatever went down, the Apollo 13 director looks like he’s having a delightful time with the new project. Earlier this week he posted a pic teasing a glance of Glover as young Lando. If you stare hard enough, it looks like the Community alum is in the Millennium cockpit.
Digging back even further into Howard’s Instagram, there is even a glimpse of Lando’s wardrobe. It looks fresh AF to us.
With Black Panther, A Wrinkle in Time and this flick coming out next year, only a second season release date for Atlanta could make 2018 more lit than it’s already going to be.
