’12 Years A Slave’ Wins Big at Golden Globes

Congratulations to director Steve McQueen and the cast of 12 Years a Slave!

The movie, starring Chiwetel Ejiofor and newcomer Lupita Nyong’o, earned Best Motion Picture – Drama at Sunday night’s 71st annual Golden Globes Awards.

12 Years a Slave is based on the real-life experiences of Solomon Northup–a freed Black man who was kidnapped and sold into slavery. The film and its stars were nominated for several awards: Ejiofor for best actor in a drama; McQueen for best director; and Michael Fassbender and Nyong’o for their supporting roles.

With the night’s top honor, 12 Years a Slave will most likely become an Oscar favorite.
