’12 Years a Slave’ Could Return to Box Office

"12 Years a Slave" earned nine Oscar nominations.

The wins just keep coming for 12 Years a Slave, which recently earned Best Picture at the 86th Annual Academy Awards on Sunday.

The slavery biopic, which is set for DVD release on Tuesday, may also return to the box office.

According to Hollywood Reporter, the Steve McQueen film starring Chiwetel Ejiofor and Lupita Nyong’o, has grossed more than $140 million worldwide.

If it’s a go, the movie based on Solomon Northup’s memoir of the same name, could play in more than 1,000 U.S. theaters this Friday.
