Super Bowl XLVIII: John Legend, Jamaal Charles & Beverly Johnson!

Super Bowl XLVIII madness was in full swing here in New York City this past weekend and, of course, the DivaGals had to get in on the action. At the Shape & Men’s Fitness Super Bowl party at CIPRIANI 42nd St., we hung out in the Movado VIP suite with John Legend as Mary J. Blige performed.

We cheered as Jamaal Charles of the Kansas City Chiefs took home a $5,000 prize after making the winning nutritional shake at the Shake Up/Slim Down with Bodykey by Nutrilite breakfast Thursday morning. The money will support children without permanent homes; the running back shared that he bounced around residencies as a child. Jamaal revealed to us that a favorite aunt helped help stay on the right track to greatness. ‘She always told me we know you can di it,” he declared. Family is everything!

At Avianne & Co. Jewelers, a premier fine jewelry source for celebrities, entertainers and athletes, we spotted Joe Aranbayev, president of Avianne & Co., with O’Brien Schofield of the Seattle Seahawks, at a private shopping event. Several NFL players, including New York Giants’ Louis Murphy, Julian Talley and Charles James, were gifted watches from the Octavia Collection. The Swiss movement, water resistant time piece shows four different times zones – sure not to miss kick-off with that!

We couldn’t get enough of Beverly Johnson, who came into town for The Color Of Beauty Awards, honoring her iconic August 1974 Vogue cover, nearly 40 years ago. We toasted Super Bowl XLVIII with the supermodel at Measure inside the Langham Place Fifth Avenue hotel, and broke bread at  Latitude Sports Bar and Grill on the eve of the awards. On Tuesday evening, Beverly accepted the first “Fashion Icon of the Year” award, which was co-sponsored by Jet and its sister publication Ebony, inside Holy Apostles Ballroom in Chelsea. Needless to say, she looked gorgeous!

Get Ready For Some… Basketball?
With Super Bowl coming to a close, the time seems ripe for a celebrity basketball game. The Sprint NBA All-Star Celebrity Games 2014 is taking place in New Orleans! Catch Ride Along star and Two-time MVP Kevin Hart, America’s Got Talent’s host Nick Cannon, That Awkward Moment’s Michael B. Jordan and others take the court when it airs Friday, Feb. 14, at 7 p.m on ESPN.
