Tell us your love story: Both: We met at Lakewood Church in a singles class.
When did you know that your partner was the one? Groom: After we got back from our first road trip meeting my family for Thanksgiving. We had so much fun together and grew even closer through the conversations and experiences we shared; it was special. She made me feel warm inside, cared for and appreciated. Bride: That trip was a special signal or statement. We both live in the Houston area and he is from Missouri so to me, this was a big stepping stone for us to really get to know each other in a balanced way. But for me, it was the actual proposal. It was a clear statement, a decision being made and I was excited about moving forward.
How did he propose? Bride: Chris used a Teddy bear (one of my favorite things) who we now call the “ring-bearer” to hide the engagement ring in his bear backpack while we were out eating dinner at my favorite cafe. At first, he presented the bear as a gift and it seemed like a casual moment. But when he shared the most touching words, that let me know there was more to the bear and more to come.
What was your most memorable moment from your wedding day? Bride: Walking down the aisle; it was the moment that made it all real to me. You could see everyone standing on the balcony at a glance. I remember praying I didn’t fall down the steps. Once I got to the aisle, I remember my parents walking me down and looking and I made sure to look at Chris and take in his expression. Groom: Our first dance. We were a little anxious about the moment due to just winging it a bit, but as if finally unraveled before our eyes, we were filled with relief and joy to see it all come together. Lots of fun!
What’s the key to success in your relationship? Both: Having and applying Godly principles, a supportive family, strong commitment to one another and being open to learning and adjusting while evolving.
