Popular Chicago rap group Do Or Die took to their social media Sunday afternoon to announce that Johnny P, the group’s vocalist, passed away. He was reportedly 44.
Johnny P often collaborated with the group to produce 90’s hits “Po Pimp,” and “Playa Like Me and You,” among others. He also contributed to songs with Twista such as “Emotions” and “Yo Body,” as well as TuPac and Scarface’s “Smile,” which was released six months after TuPac’s death.
After falling into a coma in mid-November, friends, family and supporters everywhere were hoping for a recovery for the singer.
He has been described as a “Chicago Legend” by hip hop emcee Lupe Fiasco and beloved by Chicagoans and music fans everywhere.
